These are worth the cost I got these with the 20% off online ad like the previous review's these do come unseasoned so they will need to be seasoned be sure to put them on a grill first upside down and burn all the factory grease off and use a paper towel to wipe after the pan's cool wash them with some dish soap next get some crisco shortening or flax seed oil it will take a few time's to get a good seasoning started so far these have been none stick and that's a big plus in my book look forward to taking them on a camping trip one day to do a campfire cookout

great pans! Burn off the wax coating and season with grapesed oil. If they are smooth (mine weren't) after three trips into the oven, they will be seasoned perfectly. I didn't open the box, so didn't know how rough mine would be. After a good soft grinding on the cooking surface and a proper seasoning, mine are super non-stick and wonderful to use. Thinking of getting my sister a set and seasoning them for her for christmas!

I've had iron skillets for more than 30 years. I got my 1st set from my Mom when I married & she's had her set set for more than 60 years. I've bought my daughters a set & now I'm buying another set for my grandson. This is an incredible price & can't be beat.

Price can not be beat. I got them as a gift but I am doing the seasoning so it will be ready to go. I plan to cook a few different items on them for the new owners. That way they can see how easy they are to use. Great product, Thanks.

I purchaced this 3pc set 6 or years ago. I think the price was the same as it is now. The large one is still the primary one i use. However I reorderd 3 more sets for christmas gifts for my coworkers. I plan to do a complete 'season job' on them so they are almost black. They are young people so they might not immediately know how awesome a gift it will be when used properly.

I use these for everything including baking mac & cheese. Very easy to clean with a piece of steel wool. The older it gets the better it cooks :) Bought the 12" pan from Harbor Freight a couple years ago although I can't find it on the website any longer.....Awww!

make sure you season them 3x. i only did once and i left out on my grill overnight. they did get a rusty film came right off. use crisco to season.

This is an outstanding price for three cast iron skillets. I would say they are a one egger, three egger and a 5-6 egger size respectively. I was eager to get these home and start the seasoning process. I am well acquainted with cast iron and how to season all types. This is the first time I have had such difficulty with seasoning an cast iron that was not preseasoned. First I boiled out the grease, scrubbed with steel wool pad, then greased up and put on the stove right away. This was an extremely rough finish on the cast iron. To my amazement, a thick, brown almost muddy substance came out of the pores on heating. It took three seasoning attempts to finally rid the pan of this stuff. After that it was fine. Maybe this was just factory grease protectant, but I have never seen this before. The grease from the pan was a brown muddy stuff upon hardening at room temperature. Sometimes you have to balance price with quality.

The pan does heat well, cooks evenly etc. Just make sure you do a thorough job of seasoning the mud out.

Just returned these 4 sets to my local store, checked if their pans are any different, nope all the same. I ordered 4 sets mail order for its great ratings and price. Here is my list of complaints:
1 The size specified for the big one is 10", the actual cooking diameter is less than 8".(10" they refer to is the external diameter of the top of the pan). Same misleading sizeas for the other 2 pans in a set. In fact the smallest one is so tiny, it is good enough for one egg only.
2 All six sets that I examined had uneven and rough surfaces.
3 It appears that all those sets were welded up, or had some other thermal mending done to them. All had darker shade patterns permiating through the bottom to the other side. Which would be consistent with heat alterring. One pan in a set had what appeared to be welded up crack.

Now I have no idea if the heat discoloration would adversly affect the cooking. May be after a good sanding and seasoning the pans will be a diamond in the rough? I did not want to take a chance.
