I bought this chest because I own the roll cab it goes with and wanted to have more storage space. The price is pretty low and it is much less than other brands. A couple of things;
1)the fit and finish is not quite as good as the roll cab. The drawers dont look even from side to side. They welded one of the lock bar hinges crooked. Everything works perfectly however.
2) I mentioned the keys in my review of the roll cab. You have to buy a set of 5 locks with the same key # to key both boxes alike. That works perfectly on the roll cab but on the chest it has a quarter turn lock so if you change it to a half turn lock the key wont come out when unlocked. I converted mine to have the top locked while the drawers are unlocked because I got used to that with my S/O boxes so its not an issue for me but I mentioned it in case anyone wants keyed alike.

My reveiw sounds critical after reading it back but all in all I am quite satisfed with the box and would still buy it.

I bought the Top Chest, Bottom Chest and 2 Hang-On Drawer Cabinets. Overall a decent looking Chest...BUT..... Watch out for "Paint Problems" and mechanical issues. I had to return my Top Chest to 2 different HF stores and go through 4 Tool Chests to finally end up with one that was OK. ****** "Paint Bubbling" issues (probably due to poor paint surface prep (or no prep at all??). ****** The HF Mgr's. at both of the HF stores I dealt with were unfriendly and acted like it was a real pain and inconvenience to have to deal with the problems. One of them told me he didn't have time to pull another chest from his inventory to make sure that I got a good Chest and gave me a "wisecrack" comment...."Maybe you should buy a Snap xx." (yeah, That's why I'm at Harbor Freight...) The drawers on 3 of the 4 Chests I tried to swap out also had mechanical issues...the Drawers wouldn't catch to stay shut. In short, I bought the US General "top of the line" HF Chest Set, and was handled very poorly and rudely by the HF store Mgrs. HF needs to fix the paint issues on their Chests and educate their Mgr's. on who the customer is. The Chests look nice, but many may have "paint bubbling" issues....and guess what...after the "brief" Warranty, if the paint starts "flaking off"..guess who will be "stuck" with this problem (ME). A word to the Wise.....Check the Chests BEFORE leaving the store!!

No other words to desribe this tool storage facility but AWESOME. I call it a storage "facility" because of the space it provides. I have the chest and roller cabinet and all I can do is feel like I own my own mechanics shop. I have a lot of tools but I'm constantly looking for tools to put in it. Like a kid in a candy store. Highly recommend over the higher priced big store tool boxes.

Better than Decent

for the home mechanic, this is a great product. Just got it home, moved stuff from my old chest to this, organizing and discarding stuff along the way. Next will get the top chest, then the side cabinet, but need to make some room first. Best part, is there is no assembly required, just uncrate and start filling it up. (just the side handle needs to be mounted with two screws.

I bought this box because my old one was too small and I didn't want to spend thousands on a big name box so I was lead to the 44" roll away box. I was a little nervous at first but once I filled it with tools all of my fears went away. I have over 2,000 pounds of tools in it and it still rolls around just fine. I am very happy with this box.

I have two other extremely reputable domestic mfg'd Tool Chests and Cabinets, and I have to say this U.S. General Pro Tool Chest from Harbor Freight is very well made and is constructed of a thicker sheet metal gauge than my other two units. When purchasing this locally at HF, I was fortunate to have received one not only in its cardbaord packaging intact, but it was also enclosed in a wooden crate resulting no shipping / handling damages. I am extremely satisfied with this product and can only hope HF will continue to offer products of this quality caliber & cost (such as their excpetional quality Pittsburgh Pro Ratchets & Sockets) going forward.

By doing so, they will capture more & more market share in the "Tools Category".

Believe it or not I bought this box as a scratch and dent item, no scratches or dent... The person who returned it claimed that it wasn't sitting level on the bottom chest. I have this sitting on a wooden bench and have exspirenced zero issues.

The box locks great
The rollers feel great once I filled it up
The quality in design is 100% there
Im mobile with a lot of my repairs and my business partner and I both grab by just the handles and toss it in the bed of the truck
The box doesn't bed or show any sighns of weakness

I was price shopping at the time and was probably going to buy and craftsmen as settlement fortunately I stumbled across this gold mine and now have double the quality for half the price
