I just used this to winch out my dump truck ('72 F600 with a 10ft dump box, approx weight of 10,000 lbs) from the field where it had been stuck for two weeks. It had rained another 7 inches since it got stuck so the field was very wet. I just mounted the winch on the bumper using a HF universal winch mounting plate and a couple of 1/2 inch grade 5 bolts. It only took a couple of evenings of work after dinner to install the winch on the truck out in the field using hand tools and a battery powered drill. The winch pulled the truck right out and easily moved it about 40 ft to firmer ground. I did not double block the cable, I just hooked it to a chain that was wrapped around the frame of my '54 Chevy grain truck, started the dump truck and let it idle in while I stood next to the truck and ran the winch. It pulled it right out and the winch motor was just warm to the touch. Worked great!

Well I purchased this winch and installed it on a Bobcat t-320 weighing 10k+2400 lb attachment so roughly 12.5k lbs. My intentions were to get the Bobcat out of the mud should I get stuck clearing land. I was recently working in an isolated area and My service Truck a Ford F-650 with a 10 ft Dump Bed installed weighing 13,900 lbs got stuck in the mud. I wasn't able to move the truck. After dropping the trailer. I attached the bobcat mounted winch to the front of the F650 and applied tension and attempted to drive the f650 out not thinking the winch would pull the truck out. My attempt to drive the truck out failed and returned to the bobcat and winched the truck out of the mud. I noticed the tires on the truck were NOT turning and after dragging the truck forward three feet I checked and I had applied the parking brake on the truck. Ok not one of my prouder moments but I have to admit I was impressed with this winch. If I had to call a for a tow it would of cost me more then what I had paid for the winch so after one use I consider this thing paid for

I tow cars on my 18" car trailer. Ive been looking for a winch for a while now to pull cars up on my trailer. This winch is easy to install. Ive only used the winch a couple times so far, but it pulls great! I hope it lasts cause Im more than happy with its performance. Time will tell. I also just bought the wireless remote for it, so I can stay at a safe distance while winching. For the price, Id say BUY IT!!!

this is the best price per lbs, and per feature you get at a fraction of the so called big name winches. they are made in the same overseas plants, so you are only paying more for a silly so called name brand badge. This is a great buy for off roaders, or car hauling trailers. Use the HF modifiable mounting plate and you will have the perfect winch set up. I modified the mounting plate to a double hitch receiver, where winch is on top and tow ball on bottom. Where I tow a dolly and winch at once, and allowing me to winch disabled cars onto the dolly. This has saved me $1000's rather than calling a rip off towing company. especially when traveling cross country.

BOUGHT IT WITH DOUBTS READ THE REVIEWS SO BOUGHT IT, LOVE IT PULLED A 19FOOT 3 FOOT WIDE RED OAK UP ONTO MY TRAILER, OH YES SHE PULLED HER RIGHT ON, I HAD A GREAT WELDER HOOK UP THE MOUNTING CROSS MEMBER. ONLY FLAW I THINK THE SPOOL OR DISTANCE FROM BASE OF WINCH TO FRAME OF MOUTNING SHOULD BE DEEPER TO ALOW TO SPOOL IN WITHOUT HAVE TO BE A PERFECT REWIND...

I Bought a 12,000 winch and installed it on my Jeep CJ7, yes it is overkilled but for the price I couldn't pass it out.
Now I have read all the reviews and since I have no emediate plan to use my winch I did take the following actions to make this product even better and durable.
Problems: control box is too clause to the wire and could be ripped off or damaged during operation.
Problems : control box is not water proof.
Fix : I bought four longer 10MM bolts and 8 10MM nuts, unscrewed the four top cover screws, replaced the four rail mounting bolts with the longer bolts making sure the bolt are inserted from the bottom to the top, also install two 10MM nuts between the rail and the control box. This will raise your control box at least ½ inch above the wire and prevent it to be ripped off.
Fix : since your control box has to be opened it is a good time to water proof it, I used RTV and made a seal for the top cover and the mounting screws and a hole in the corner of the box making it totally water proof.

This beast look really great in the front of my Jeep mounted on the channel winch mount from Harbour freight also, yes it as the power to winch three Jeep at the same time but since I spend less than $350 tax included for the entire rig….WHY NOT…BROTHER.

I've had this winch about six months, it picks 8 thousand lbs up and lets it down at least 3 to 4 times a day, with no trouble at all. Excellent for the money in my opinion, I've paid 1500 plus for winches that didn't work this well.

I BOUGHT A 12000 WINCH ABOUT TWO YEARS AGO I MOUNT IT ON DODGE W350 4X4 WRECKER I HAD TO REMOUNT THE CONTROL BOX BECAUSE MY PLOW PUMP WOULD NOT FIT I HAVE PULLED TRUCKS OUT MUD AND SNOW I JUST USED IT TO RECOVER AJEEP CHEROKEY THAT HAD BEEN OUT ON THE BEACH FOR TWO DAYS WITH TIDE COMING IN AND OUT OF THE JEEP THE SAND WAS OVER THE WHEELS UP TO THE DOORS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM WAS IT KEPT PULLING MY WRECKER ONTO THE BEACH THE WINCH NEVER STOPPED IT JUST KEPT PULLING

Bought this for my 99 TJ and havnt regretted it. I tested it out on bushes and small tree's ripping em out of the ground like nothing. It even pulled the jeep across dry pavement with the breaks locked. Tested on the trails and performed like a champ. I did extend the wires from the winch to the box so I could mount the box high under the hood but great winch so far.
