I have put dozens of hours into using this thing. Repaired snowmobile seat bases, hoods, belly pans, etc. Works great *IF* you're patient enough. So many ham-fisted gorillas complain of breaking or "melting" the tip... REALLY??? Take your time, and this unit works perfectly. If you want to go faster, use a heat gun to soften material around the weld site.

I love this tool. The only downside of it since I virtually can fix anything I can't throw anything.

Perfect repair for motorcycle and ATV fairings and other polypropylene plastics. I fixed some cracks in Givi luggage, some fairings, and some holes in a Pelican case. I wish I would have had one of these 30 years ago!

The only negative comment I'd have is I wish there were different tips available.

if you not sure go with this one. it can fix that toy but not the plastic radiator so much.

I didn't even know a product like this existed. I found it really easy to use and the end result is terrific. I used it repair some plastic pieces on a clothes dryer. I'm certain to find other uses for it. It's certainly paid for itself already.

Ive only had this for about a week. Bought to plastic weld a car bumper. works perfect for shaving, or repairing plastic bumpers. i would recommend this to anyone

I originally bought the kit to try and repair a backyard hard plastic fish pond that has had a crack in it from a falling rock about 15 years ago that I have fixed unsuccessfully several times with black silicone sealer over the years,this never fully stopped the leak and the pond had to be topped off every 4-5 days as it would go down 6 inches.I've asked everyone for ideas but came up with nothing.With the kit I was able to build up and strengthen the cracked and dented area to where it is stronger than new and is leak free.The only water loss now is evaporation from the waterfall or water dragged out by our jack russell who runs his basketball in at any opportunity.I've also repaired a 3" crack in a plastic pan wheelbarrow. Since the plastic was green I didn't use a rod I just worked the tool on either side of the crack and filled the crack with the original plastic.Then flipped it and repeated.Hardly noticeable and as strong as new.Have used on other items with same success.Everyone with a little skill

Bought this to replace an air blower type that burned out and I liked this one better for the ability to control where heat is applied. First few uses I noticed the tip would bend easily once it heated up, and eventually it broke off. The was a flaw (air bubble ) in the casting where it broke. I extracted the broken piece and rethreaded the remaining tip. Now shortened the tip is stronger but can still bend when hot, so I started using a screwdriver to apply pressure when melting screen into plastic. I fixed a badly smashed plastic car bumper with this by melting metal screen into the cracks from the back side and then melting plastic over the screen. Bumper is holding well and the tool still works. I'll get another one if this eventually dies. Would be better with a stronger tip that could be used in straight line pressure rather than at an angle. I might try making one like that.
