I broke a screw extractor off in a screw. Those screw extractors are hardened and quality metal drill bits could not drill it out at all. Were talking not even a bit after many minutes of drilling and ruining 4 bits.

So, I bought these in a last ditch effort to grind the screw and extractor down beyond the head and it worked! And it went fairly fast too!

Needless to say, I was expecting some cheap set of bits that were cheaper HF quality, and I got ones that worked great for a great price which is another thing HF does!

I am a professional sharpener,these work great on any carbide or other hardened metal surface like stump grinding bits and have come in very handy to sharpen the more aggressive newer hand saws-yes they can be sharpened very successfully.

I rough out carvings in jade, topaz, aquamarine (and other beryl), sapphire, ruby, agates and jasper. Very helpful in setting stones in jewelry, and cleaning up kiln cast glass, too.

Of course, I never cut dry and always use a water drip, spray or immersion.

Only wish they came in more grits. I have to buy corresponding sets from other suppliers.

When HF has these on sale, they're a "best buy" in my book.

Cut low (pressure) & slow - let the diamond do the work, and ALWAYS use lubricant (oil, water, etc.). Lubricant keeps the bits cutting cool and avoids dislodging the grit, especially in metals.

These bits will stand up nicely if not abused , I have to admit I do take some tools past their limits at times.. Haven't we all?

I have abused a couple of these bits as in extreme overheating while cutting , and I mean almost red hot. I've found that when doing this it will wear the surface much faster and loose performance.

Now, if you take a normal pace, these cut extremely well on all types of media including the hardest metals.

I find that I reach for them more and more when I get something that needs just that right angle or run across a tight spot to finish.

Bought a set for my brother (45+years professional mechanic ) and said he would give them a try but warned me he normally only buys the best. Plut a perfectionest to a fault. ( So am I... Oh well. )

Well, on his next port and polish he said they came in very handy for the finer details that he always wanted to do but his burr bits could not reach and was pleasantly surprised. Mentioned aluminum will load them after a while up but a quick wire wheel cleaned them right up.

Price is right and every angle bit that you can think of.

I bought these to do some work with ceramic. They did nothing to the ceramic. The so called diamond coating wore off in 1 to 2 seconds. Complete trash.
