- To begin, cut your 1 in. x 12 in. board into (3) 30 in. length pieces. These 3 pieces will be the base of your shelves.
- Once you have your shelves cut, use a small scrap end of 2 in. x 4 in. to trace the outline onto the corners of your shelves. This will allow the outer supports to sit flush with your shelves, giving your project a modern look.
- Using your Bauer 20V Cordless 6-1/2 in. Circular Saw, cut out each of the corner rectangles. If there are wood chips left, use an Bauer 20V Oscillating Multi-Tool to clean up the inner corners; this will allow for clean, precise cuts.
- Once all three of the shelves are prepped and cut, move on to cutting the legs. From the 2 in. x 4 in. boards, cut (4) 45 in. length pieces.
- Now that the shelves and legs have been cut, you may begin assembly. Starting with the lowest shelf, mark the desired height on all 4 legs. TIP: use scrap 2 in. x 4 in. to stabilize the bottom board and use as a measurement for this. Ensure your shelf is level, then use your Bauer 20V Cordless Brad Nailer to secure the shelf to each leg.
- Following the above steps, secure the middle and top shelf at desired heights. If you would like the top planter box framed flush with the legs of your plant stand, use a 1 in. x 3 in. to mark the height of the top shelf.
- Once all three shelves are mounted, take individual measurements of the inner gaps between each leg to create the frame. These measurements can vary by 1/8 in. - 1/4 in. depending on your fitment, so be sure to measure twice and cut once to get the best fit! Cut the framing pieces from a 1 in. x 3 in. and use your cordless brad nailer to attach from the bottom of each shelf. We framed only our top two shelves and left the bottom shelf open.
- Final steps are to stain and paint your project, if desired. A light warm stain on the shelves/planter boxes contrasted with a black high gloss paint on the legs provides a modern, stylish summer look.
- Optional: Use 2 in. outdoor screws for extra stability if needed.
