Types of Plumbing Pumps
There are many types of plumbing pumps. These include gas engine pumps, utility pumps, transfer pumps, sump pumps,
well pumps, fountain pumps, and sewage pumps. When looking at home water pumps, the most important factors to
consider when sizing a water pump are GPM/PSI ratings, inlet/outlet size for water and hoses, how high you'll need
to pump the water (measured in vertical feet -- referred to as total head lift), and how far you'll need to pump the
water horizontally. Clear water pumps are
engineered to efficiently manage and move water in different scenarios,
with clear water pumps being ideal for clean water transfer and semi-trash pumps designed to handle water
mixed with
small debris or solids, making them suitable for various construction and dewatering tasks. These pumps utilize
advanced mechanisms to achieve optimal performance and reliability in diverse water management applications.
Some other important factors to look out for include the suction head, which is the vertical distance pumped from the
water source to the pump. The total head lift is the total height from the water source to the destination. This
number will give you the estimated "power" a pump has to move water over a distance. Finally, the gallons per minute
is a measurement of how many gallons the pump can move per minute.
