There were some quite critical reviews on this saw that I read before I decided to buy. Yes, the manufacturers machining isn't supurb. I spent about ah hour elongating the elongated holes for squaring up the fence so I could get spot on 90 degrees using an Engineer's square to the blade. I simply used the appropriate sized drill bit and used the flutes to cut them a bit longer and a bit to one side. Hey, it's aluminum. And some of that was to get the 90 degree "pin" to locate properly when going from an angled cut back to 90. The pin is too small a diameter, or the slot it goes into is too large. Either way I worked ti so slipping the pin into the slot and easing it to the right hand edge is perfect every time. The big Delta cast iron chop saw that this one is replacing had the same problem. This one was easier to solve.

Today I used the sliding feature again for three lap joints in Cypress, part of a kitchen counter project. The depth adjuster worked just fine. Neat feature. 35 swipes back and forth gave me uniform depth and smooth cuts over a 2" lap. Felt like the guy in the deli slicing roast beef!!! Easier and faster than setting up the dado blade on the table saw.

No, the sawdust bag doesn't seem to collect the sawdust worth a d***. And I've only made a couple three hundred cuts, so I don't know how long the blade will go. But it's working just fine. Like someone else said, when it goes, I'll replace it with an 80 tooth fine.

And this puppy didn't cost an arm and a leg.

The saw was attractive. The price was great but the quility and accuracy of the cuts were really lacking. I too spent time trying to get the thing to make a square cut. The base plate was a bit loose and i agree that the degree plate was not in line with the pointer.

very good sliding miter saw for the price! Looks as good as some of the competition for a lot less! Work very good I've used it for chair molding, hard wood flooring and crown molding!

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

I bought the saw two weeks ago and gave it a voracious workout today. I gave up on the dust collector bag. Its a joke and kept jamming sawdust back at the blade. I made a couple minor adjustments for true square. It could have longer extension but I got this for [$] with discounts and am quite happy.

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

Right out of the box plugged it in to see if it works and made a sample cut. Noticed it was cutting at a angle from the top. The stop was hitting the very end of guide. I spent 45 minutes using a circle hand file to extend the range on the guide. Now it cuts squaure. Built a shed using it. Would use for DIY around the house. I dont like the fact that the blade lacks a brake. Very scary if something were to go wrong.

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

Bought as a Christmas gift to myself. :) Also bought the power miter saw laser guide as a separate item and it mounted and functioned perfectly on this miter saw. The instructions are not very clear on where to make all the squaring adjustments but it is not difficult to figure out.
Great saw for a beginner at a decent price.

Comments about Chicago Electric Power Tools 10" Sliding Compound Miter Saw:

Doesn't get better at this price. Worked great out of the box. Parts not as durable as some but it's half the price of anything similar. Cut square without adjustment. Not as noisy as I expected from others' reviews. Framed a door within an hour of setting up the saw. Cut MDF trim smooth enough. Will get a better trim blade later.

This saw is very easy to set up. The miter settings are true as indexed. I wish I'd had it when I laid down my laminate floor. But it was great for the crown molding.

After reading some of the reviews, I was prepared to spend a couple of hours adjusting the saw to square up the cuts, however I found everything to be aligned perfectly out of the box. i am quite happy with the cost to quality ratio. It is not a $500.99 saw, but it is perfectly usable for anything I want to do.

I love this saw. Screw L*w*s ( should be called highs )Who needs D*wa*t? If you buy tools based on name alone, you are a fool, or your ego depends on your name brands.

I use this to cut aluminum all day long with an oshlun blade 100 tooth blade. It is loud so I wear ear protection, but this is a steal. If I ever wear it out, I'll go buy another in a heartbeat. The sliding is soooo handy. I would never have a chop saw without a slide. Get it.

Be prepared for the following: adjust the miter and cut depth settings, tighten all bolts and screws, purchase a quality blade and throw the original in the trash, have your ShopVac ready. Now with that out of the way you are good to go with this saw. It is worth the effort and additional cost of a good blade vs. spending $300 to $500 on a name brand saw.
