Comments about Chicago Electric Generators 10,000 Watts Max/7200 Watts Rated Belt-Driven Generator Head:

These generators come broken out of the box, it takes 60 to ninty days to get parts, by then the warrenty has run out. Harbor Freight doesn't replace the generator, they make you wait while parts come from other countries. They won't open a warehouse to keep parts and they won't put the parts on an AIRPLANE, I just other countries don't have Airplanes! Randolph

    Works Great

Comments about Chicago Electric Generators 10,000 Watts Max/7200 Watts Rated Belt-Driven Generator Head:

I purchased this generator over a year ago. I have it coupled to a 16 hp single cylinder engine. At first I had problems with the couplers blowing apart when I decreased the engine speed to fast (not the fault of generator mine for not buying the next size larger coupler). Anyway, after getting the right size coupler I have had no issues with the generator. Our power went out the other day and my wife could not believe I made a generator that powered the house. It runs everything in our house... well pump, furnace, refrigerator, lights, sump pump and range! Lots of power but went well pump kicks on it makes the 16 hp motor sing but the generator kept up! I ran it for over an hour without even the hint of a light flicker or 'low power' problem. I may buy a second and make another generator but this one I will hook up to a PTO or pulley system. The coupler is the weak link. The motor and generator has to lined up perfectly in order to have no issues when using a coupler.

    not a long term solution

Comments about Chicago Electric Generators 10,000 Watts Max/7200 Watts Rated Belt-Driven Generator Head:

I use this unit to back up my solar powered homestead, unfortunately I have had to replace it twice..... bearings once and winding melt down the second time. The price is tempting but I am getting tired of repeating the purchase and mounting every couple years.
