Comments about Haul-Master 1090 Lb. Capacity 40-1/2" x 48" Mini Utility Trailer with 12" Four-Lug Wheels and Tires:

I bought this trailer even after reading the reviews. Most of which were positive, and a few were just whiners. Yeah, many of the nuts are in tight places. Yeah, it'll rust if the paint chips. Yeah, it's a pain to backup. READ THE DESCRIPTION.... CHEAP LITTLE TRAILER, i.e.,"CHEAP"... it ain't powder coated, so it's going to rust if the paint comes off. "LITTLE"... Things will be tight when you put it together. "TRAILER".... need I go on? It took me the better part of an evening to put it together. Then the most of the next day to take it apart and square it up. Add another day to build the floor, all four walls, and a hinged top to cover it. I used the stake holes as guides, and 3/4" treated plywood all around. I cut and hinged the front and back panel's stake tabs so they could fold open, and secured all eight tabs with "t-nuts" and 5/16" bolts through the frame. I used regular padlock hasps to secure all four upper corners, and two more for the hinged top. The sides are about 22" tall, and that's all I need to haul most of my camping gear. In addition to the trailer, I bolted on the biggest roof-top carrier that Thule makes (2100 c.u.) to the top of the lid, and it still is lower than the height of the diesel VW New Beetle I tow it with. I also added carrying straps to hold two 5 gallon jerry jugs of fuel which sit on each fenders. All loaded up, the trailer weighs about 750 lbs. with a tongue weight of about 75 lbs., and it tows like a dream.

Comments about Haul-Master 1090 Lb. Capacity 40-1/2" x 48" Mini Utility Trailer with 12" Four-Lug Wheels and Tires:

These trailers are inexpensive. When (not if) you chip the paint, it will start to rust within the day, so be sure to get some primer on that! Also, you will really need a set of flat wrenches to do the build, ratchets are too thick, a crescent wrench is too wide... I didn't have a set, and wound up barely getting the job done with a small vice grips. The light kit that is included had us baffled. After 1/2 day of putting the trailer together, we had to spend another half day trouble shooting the wiring. It turns out that instead of having a ground wire for the tail lights, they rely on you cracking/chipping the paint enough when installing to establish a ground that way (it worked on one side, not the other). 2 self tapping screws fixed the problem (a 4 cent cost to me), they should have included the self tappers in the kit.
The trailer pulls well. We pulled it with a roof top cargo carrier (a really big one) packed full for over 1000 miles so far. It is easy to forget you are pulling. The little trailer is much more narrow than our vehicle, so turning in tight areas is no problem. Also, the small size means there is no additional aerodynamic drag, so there is almost no change in MPG when pulling the trailer (vs our neighbors that have a 20% penalty when using their roof top cargo carrier on their vehicle). The wheelbase is so short that the trailer almost tracks directly behind your vehicle, but it makes backing quite difficult. Combine this with the fact that you can't see the trailer turning until it is already well on its way, and you have one hard to back little trailer. Fortunately, the trailer is light enough (when not heavily loaded) that one person can drag it sideways if needed, or it is easy to unhook and steer around by hand. It's a good trailer for the price, but if I were designing it, there would be a few changes made.

        Great pull behind motorcycle trailer

Comments about Haul-Master 1090 Lb. Capacity 40-1/2" x 48" Mini Utility Trailer with 12" Four-Lug Wheels and Tires:

I purchased 3 of these trailers. I sold 2 to my motorcycle buddies. The third I kept. Added plywood to the bottom and purchased a [@] carrier which I modified. Tracks great as long as you square up the trailer properly. Went over 3K miles on one trip. I highly recommend this to pull behind a motorcycle staying with speeds no greater than 60 mph unless you purchase radial tires (8 ply) and then you can exceed 60 mph.

Good trailor overall. But and there is always a "but". When you are backing up this is very difficult due to the size & short distance from the ball to trailor. I would recommend putting an extension on the have some lee-way when backing up, othwise it will turn very quickly on you and you have to be on top of it! May seem like a small thing to consider but just thought future buyers might want to know.

One Great little trailer for places of narror trails or limited road sizes. The only real problem is that the tail lights are not protected when you set the trailer on the back side. I simly didn't have them on for off road operations. Other than that hreat trailer.
And I would recommend it for small offroad payloads. And most of todays stuff I wouldn't recommend at all.

I bought this to tow behind my Corolla after I gave my daughter my pick up on/for her 16th birthday.

I covered it with 3/4 inch plywood and a galvanized sheet metal cap. Aircraft style tiedown rails along the sides, and a spare finish it. I purchased a cartop roof bag that I use on the trailer for camping equipment that I prefer stay out of the weather. A dog kennel straps to the deck to keep the dog mess out of my car when they come along. I made 18" rails for hauling mulch and bulk items. I also use it for hauling bicycles to new trails and picking up larger items like building materials. It fits my needs well and stores well.

Seems to tow well, and haven't had any issues with the tires or anything else to date. If you have need for a mini trailer, this one is a good value.

            Great all-round little trailer

I've had one of these for many years now. I first bought it to tow behind a Miata to carry tires, tools, and gear to the track...attached a large storage bin to the front half and a platform on the rear to carry tires. Later, I added another bin and used it to carry camping and scuba gear behind a PT Cruiser and a Mazda station wagon. Also added bike racks to the sides. IT always towed straight and true. Great product at a very reasonable price.

Had this for 5 years, tires seldom go flat even with it just sitting there. Great little item. Made the deck with plywood but would recommend metal or metal roofing instead. Lasts longer. Get the spare tire when you buy it, not that I had trouble but 12 inch 4 lug tires are hard to find sometimes. Totally recommend it. LIke the other guy says, I have a car and I have a 4 x 8 truck box when i need it.

Excellent choice for the autocross enthusist.

Comments about Haul-Master 1090 Lb. Capacity 40-1/2" x 48" Mini Utility Trailer with 12" Four-Lug Wheels and Tires:

I autocross and track event a 1990 Corvette, not a lot of room to carry race tires, spareds, jacks, tools and other necessities. As I drive the car to competitions I needed something that would fit in the back of my garage. This trailer is light, space efficient and lets me carry (with modifications) a full set of race tires, tools, spares, my ez up, ice chest and chairs, spare power, to any event I care to go to.

It also means besides not having to unload everything the minute I get home at the end of a long weekend. Unhook the trailer, drop it in the garage and the car is free. I can also pack and prep during the week without tying up the car, it makes pre-event so much nicer.
