Gun is junk. But what can you expect for the price. Changed tips with Weller tips but gun itself gets hot and doesn't solder worth a hook

Good Gun, Poor tips Review by SolderMan

Works great, just replace the cheapo tips with the Wellers from Radio Shack ($1/ea).

Heats up fast, easily solders 12 ga stranded wire. Best Price Anywhere and includes a case and solder and flux!

Hmmm Sears eh? Review by Jay Storkson Electrical

The gun likely gets hot enough, just doesn't solder worth a darn.
I use it now for cutting nylon strapping for tie downs as it cuts and seals the webbing all at once.
Good idea to try the new tips, hadn't thought of that.
I will try that.

Unit works well except tips are of poor quality and melt easily. If you buy this set recommend like others to get replacement tips of higher quality.

Replacement Tips Review by Mike

This soldering gun does exactly as promised. It heats up fast and does what it should. However, HF does not sell replacement tips for this item. The store directed me to Lowes and Home Depot. However, neither of these stores carried tips either. I finally found some copper tips at Radio Shack that fit perfectly and are less than $2.00 a pack.
