Best if used with clamp pads. The fixed end does not stay snug on the pipe. The looseness is actally a minor advantage at times, but give the pipe a twist to be sure it is well engaged before applying a lot of force. When on sale at about 20% off, these are worth the price.

I've been using two of these as part of a twin screw tail vise I made for my workbench, and they work great. They slide easily, don't slip while clamping and there is a minimum amount of play in the screws. The only complaint I have is that the paint seems to chip easily.

I build cabinets and furniture. The machining process is terrible on these clamps. The handle thread is crooked on some causing the slide portion to bind on the pipe unless you grind the hole bigger. On some the pipe thread is torn up so bad a pipe cannot be threaded in them. So you have to sort through them and return the bad ones to the store and you can get some good ones. Oil the thread before using and run the thread in and out several times and wipe the stuff off the threads and they will work fine.
