In just a couple hours, this device picked-up many pounds of nails, wires, and other iron artifacts from horse paddocks and arenas. It pulls-out the iron dust too, by the pound. It works best in shallow sand, but with a little tilt, it can navigate the deeper sand too. For every nail you can see, this device can pull out 50 that you can't see. I worry a little about the wheels standing up to the sand abrasion, but for the price I can afford a new one. In my opinion, this device has already paid for itself.
The device itself is designed for a flat regular surface, so my adaptation of it is outside its design concept. But I'm pleased none-the-less.
I find it a little difficult to drag through deeper sand, but in fairness, it wasn't designed for that. The wheels have a short adjustment range, but requires a wrench to modify height.
The quick release is a Godsend for efficient use.

I use it to pick up my shop floor after metal working. Gets a lot of the fine stuff I thought I had already swept up with the broom. Get the 30" and skip the 24 or smaller non-quick release version. Such a simple design I thought about building my own but on sale and with the twenty deal it's cheaper and quicker to buy. Harbor freight gets my money again!

30" model - Using it for a home demo project. Pro - Handle height is easily adjustable. Pro - Magnet body height is adjustable with a 19mm (3/4") wrench, Loosen the outside nut first, then the inside nut. Con (minor) - Unit only comes with 2 axle washers, one per axle. Better to have 4, 2 per wheel, one on the inside/one on the outside. Before first use, please make sure the height adjustment axle nuts are tight. Mine weren't. -And- don't pick the unit up by the magnet head handle after sweeping for items. -Only- grab the handle to release debris over a trash can. Everything I noted is probably in the instructions, but who reads the instructions? Overall impression - a very nice item.

I purchased this magnet to pick up any nails or screws left behind in the lawn when doing roofing or siding work. It has a very strong magnet built inside and the release handle works great except this item can only be used on flat level surfaces like a garage or basement floor. The wheels are not big enough for uneven grounds. The magnet bottom hits the ground causing everything you picked up to whipe off. This would be a great tool all around if they designed it for use both indoors and out.
