Multi Purpose Instrument Review by IT Guy

I tried the 500 Amp Load Tester on UPS Batteries (Uninterrupable Power Supplies) and it appears to be effective.

Many of these type 12v lead-acid batteries have Amp hour rattings as low as
10 Ah. Thanks to the precise control provided in the Load control it is easy to
set the test properly without "over loading" these small batteries.

Appears to be equally effective on any Auto, Marine and Truck battery appications as well.

Have not had an opportunity to try the engine starter test but look forward to the first opportunity.

Looks like another winner for Chicago Electric and Harbor Freight. Thanks

Can't beat the price Review by Dj

Picked up this tester for testing smaller 12v cells which are rated at a max of 58A bursts for 10 seconds (about 10C discharge rate) and it worked OK for this.

Tested a few larger batteries as well, and only pushed it as far as 300-350A, based on the battery's rating.

Be aware, the knob may require a LOT of turns to engage the first time you use it, I think I had to turn mine a full 12 revolutions before it engaged.

Also, this may just be an idiosyncrasy of each unit, but mine is actually 0, 50-500, not 0-500.

All in all, happy with the purchase.
