I found this drop cloth (and its little brother) to be exactly as described. If you spill a great deal of fluid on the cloth...yes, it will soak through. It does prevent normal paint spatter from getting to the floor underneath. The material washes well, but it will definitely shrink. This size is perfect for covering beds and sofas--or, any larger area. Especially since they are washable and durable....[$] ([$] for the larger version) on sale is a great value!! I love the idea one reviewer had for using these to protect landscaping in freezing weather. These are great for protecting furniture from active pets, too!!

I purchased one 5-6 years ago and still use it. I use it for painting to covering flowers during freezing weather and then some. I'd say I got my money out of it...

I bought this to stretch for a wall mural and prime coat with gesso. It has a seam in the middle so the maximum area is only 6' x 9'. But it has a tight enough weave without any rough thread knots to sand off. 10 oz weight is good for my painting.
