We bought this 1 1/2 years ago and I converted it to use as a degassing chamber/injection molder. I just added a few valves and gauges and use an external vaccuum generator. This tank withstands vacuum over 29 inches of mercury and pressures over 85 psi with no ill effects. (I did cast an "in situ" silicone gasket to replace the factory seal.) We have done hunderds of castings and it's still going strong. I'm looking to buy another one.

For Sculptors and prototypers this tank takes a beating like a WWII tank. Mine is set up as a pressure tank for pressurizing silicone or resin. I have pressurized it up to 60 to 70 PSI and never had a problem. Now I use it from 30 to 60 PSI. I have done hundreds of casts and dozens of silicone molds, and never a problem or leak!!!! I'm looking for another.

I don't know how this works with painting, but it's perfect for clear casting resin with no bubbles. I've read a review where someone claims it "exploded" due to one of the fittings not being secured. First of all, that is operator error. Secondly, when working with high pressure you check things several times before adding pressure. I tightened all 4 points of the latch several times and checked that they were properly engaged with the lid. This seems to be a decent quality product. Just be smart with it and you won't become a statistic.

Nowadays when you buy an inexpensive tool or equipment you expect it to under perform simply because of the price. This is one exception. It took an hour at least to figure it out since the manual nor the tech support does little help. After testing it with water, 60 psi from the compressor and 30 psi through the spray gun I was ready. Painting the exterior walls and eaves of the 12' x 12' x 9' tool shed in about 2 hours. BTW make sure you have quick connect hose connectors and teflon tape before you start your painting, that will save you another trip to buy them.

I bought this pressure pot to spray a friend's shed and some signs. The year before I sold my old paint pot/gun setup (rhimes with links) after not using it for years; a move I now regret.

The pot was set up with the HF Air Siphon Spray Gun Kit; not all that great BTW. All fittings and QD's I installed were air tight, but there was some leakage from the swivel at the manifold. I replaced it with better one. The seal bloated when it was exposed most solvents – what a terrible quality control issue; it's a paint pot for Pete's sake! I had to make a new one out of RTV.

You really need to clamp down the lid, as pocket leaks tend to be a nuisance. This is also problematic for pressure casting, which I will get into later. The pressure gauge was not accurate, being too low than the actual pressure so it had to be replaced. There were also problems in the paint draw or suction. It would sputter when the paint volume was around 1/3 to ¼ pot. I tried another gun (Gaurdair) with the same results. The inside coating started to delaminate on my second batch, which ended up ruining the entire pot of paint. I had to go with a liner after that, so be forewarned. I Never had any of these problems with my other setup.

However, I later found a good use for this pressure pot. A few years ago, I started making my own resin cast parts. The HF pressure pot came redeemed itself by being useful for polyurethane resin casting and RTV mold making, though it does need to be modified to be used as a casting/vacuum pot.

It holds up well under the typical 45-65 pressure casting, though as previously mentioned, the lid needs to be clamped down significantly hard to avoid those pesky pocket leaks. It's also a good idea to lube the clamps threading, else the threads will wear thin and can fail under pressure. I've been able to drawn vacuum over 28 inches of mercury and it holds strong. I also made a clear vacuum lid using ¾" plexi, so I can observe and control the RTV foaming.

Overall, I don't recommend this pressure pot for painting, but I do for resin casting and RTV mold making.

Works as described, but doesn't mention that the paint outlet is 3/8" and not 1/4". I also noticed minor rust after the first use. May or may not recommend.

Currently have 5 with 3 still working. Using tinted lacquer which destroys the gasket. Jerry rigged replacements as Harbor Freight replacement gaskets are usually out of stock, take a long time to get and break down rapidly anyway. I always strip off the coating inside before using. It makes a real mess with clear coats to have dark flakes everywhere. Some elbow grease and ingenuity make them work. Would recommend with several warnings.

I hooked this up, started to pressureize when I noticed a ton of air was being leaked from the elbow connector that makes the air regulator turn vertically. I needed the job done so I removed the elbow and layed the regulator horizontal.

Combined with my experience of the hose kit 96367 that goes with this, I had a horrible day for my first paint job with this thing.

I recommend rubber tips to go on clamps as they mess up the paint job on the lid very quickly.

I also think the quality is getting worse, and thinking I will just wait to get more expensive, better quality from elsewhere.

HFT, please get some better quality control. You were my favorite toy store.

Three big problems: 1 I had to tinker with the pressure relief valve before the tank would hold any pressure. 2 The gasket is always falling off. 3 It exploded at 60 psi. The explosion was do to one of the clamps being clamped too close to the edge. Half my fault, and half poor design.
