Very good cut off tool. Works just as good as the sn*p o* one of the guys has, maybe even a little more power. Keep it oiled and feed it plenty of CFM's and this tool can't be beat. You can buy a lot of these for the price that it will cost you for just one truck brand. I removed the guard on mine but be carful with this because the valving inside shifted a little when I did and it just blew air till I figured out where it needed to be.

I purchased two of these on sale. One of them worked awesomely out of the box. The other consumed massive amounts of air to spin, then would stall easily with any pressure applied.

I noticed early on that grinder number one could be rolled easily by spinning the disk with my thumb. Grinder number two had a hard spot that took significant pressure to overcome with every revolution. I didn't make a stink about it because I couldn't have gotten a cutoff tool as good as grinder #1 for what I paid for the two of them.

I finally took the time to tear down grinder #2 a few weeks ago to see what gives.

After tearing it completely apart, I couldn't see anything indicating an obstruction, no wear marks. I put it back together loose and there was no binding until I started to snug up the large nut that holds on the bonet, and the whole assembly together.

It turned out that there's a significant amount of slop at the front where the outer bearing seats. The inner bearing sits rigidly in the base of the unit. By holding the shaft in the oposite position it wanted to settle in while tightening the nut, I was able to put the inner and outer bearing in line of each other, allowing the tool to turn freely with no binding.

While grinder number 1 still seems to operate at a higher RPM, probably because it's had years to break in, grinder number 2 works great now with no stalling and doesn't require more than 6 CFM @ 90 PSI to spin up. So now I'm using grinder number 2 exclusively, hoping it will wear in to where it works as well as number 1.

If you purchased one of these and it doesn't roll over smoothly and evenly by pushing the disc with your thumb (For obvious safety reasons, do this only with air disconnected), loosen the outer nut and see if the shaft turns easier. If it does, your grinder probably has an allignment problem with it's bearings. As you go to tighten the nut back up, try moving the shaft in different directions until you've found the spot where it spins most freely, then tighten up the nut while holding the shaft in that position.

It may turn out that some people who think they don't have the volume of air they need to operate this tool will be pleasantly surprised. It's an easy check that won't cost you anything but a few minutes, and might result with you loving a tool you currently hate.

I purchased this cut-off tool a few months back. Terrific price, works great, nothing negative to say. I mainly work on my classic cars and two daily drivers. This will cut through 3/8" steel like butter. Keep the tool oiled, and let the tool do the work - buy it, you will be happy!

I got this a few months ago and i would buy it again if it broke. At first i used it on an 8 gallon campbell hausfield compressor and it was good for like 10 seconds then the air would run out. on my 30 gallon non oilless compressor it works like a champ the grinding wheels also last a fairly long time. would reccomend this too anyone its worth 3x the price.

Replace the stud with a bolt and two nuts so you can attach a wire wheel. Also save your used four inch grindstones that are currently three inches as you can make this tool a unique grinder with he shield.

just bought this took it out smaller than i thought so i thought it would be weak. I went and tried it out on an 8 gallon compressor, It cut a lot better than i expected.

I HAVE A HARBOR FREIGHT 3" CUT OFF TOOL THAT I GOT IN 2009 AND HAVE USED IT A FEW TIMES SINCE THEN I JUST RECENTLY TOOK A 9/16 WRENCH AND CUT THE OPEN END PART OFF TO BE ABLE TO USE IT TO LOSEN MY DRAIN VALVE A FEW TURNS TO DRAIN MY COMPRESSOR WHEN I NEED TO. THE GRINDER CUT OFF TOOL CUT THROUGH THE WRENCH WITH NO TROUBLE AT ALL I WOULD SUGGEST THIS TOOL TO ANYONE WANTING A HANDY AIR TOOL TO USE FOR DIFFERANT THINGS THAT YOU CAN NOT USE A REGULAR ANGLE GRINDER. I HAVE A 20 GALLON 200 PSI CAMPBELL HAUSFIELD AIR COMPRESSOR THE TANK AIRS UP TO 200 PSI I USED THIS TOOL AND WHEN I WAS DONE CUTTING THIS WRENCH IT ONLY HAD THE AIR COMPRESSOR DOWN TO 90PSI AND NEVER SLOWED DOWN AT ALL WHILE CUTTING THIS WRENCH TO USE FOR MY DRAIN VALVE SO THAT I CAN DRAIN MY 20 GALLON AIR COMPRESSOR A LOT MORE EASIER

I HAVE HAD THIS FOR ABOUT THREE YEARS NOW I BOUGHT IT FROM MY NEIGHBOR ALONG WITH A AIR RATCHET THAT IS 3/8 DRIVE. NOW I HAVE A 20 GALLON CAMPBELL HAUSFIELD OIL FREE COMPRESSOR THAT IS 200 PSI AND WILL RUN EVERY AIR TOOL I HAVE PRETTY EASY. I CAN'T WAIT TO TRY MY CUT OFF AIR TOOL ON MY NEW AIR COMPRESSOR. I HAVE HAD THIS COMPRESSOR SINCE APRIL BUT HAVE HAD NO USE TO FIRE UP THE CUT OFF TOOL YET BUT PROBABLY DO SO SOME TIME THIS WEEK. THIS IS A GREAT TOOL FOR CUTTING BOLTS OR SCREWS THAT ARE RUSTED AND WONT COME LOOSE WITH ANYTHING ELSE

Worked pretty darn good the few times I've used it. Needs to get up to speed before having power to make a cut, but that's probably true of most. Guard comes off easy enough for unobstructed cutting. As others have said, it consumes a lot of air so this is no job for the usual 'oiless' compressor types. Overall, a heck of a deal.
