This grinder pedestal fits my needs. Easy to assemble and solid. The only thing I changed was I drilled out the holes in the pedestal and mounted 4" stem locking swivel casters. That keeps it in place and also makes it more mobile. Not for heavy duty use but perfectly fine for household jobs.

Good stand for the price. I purchased for a bench vise and mounted easily. Minor use at home with car repairs and so forth. Goes together very easily in a matter of minutes.

The castings do not snuggly fit the pipe. I never considered using the attachment bolts. I welded the castings to the pipe, and it's solid as can be.

Well it does only have two screws to hold the pipe in both the bottom and top piece which will render the pipe angled. The way to fix that is to put a level on the top portion when you're attaching it and then tighten the top portion down. Even if the pipe isn't level, your top will still be.

The biggest problem for me, though, was the lack of rubber pads on the bottom. The bottom piece was a little warped so all the feet didn't stand just right, and it needed rubber pads. Works great after I put some on!

Nice stand, it is kinda short if you are a tall person. Be prepared to extend it or deal with it the way it is.

after I welded up the base. this is the strongest compact stand now. but just be prepared to weld the tube or jb it. I have a buffer set on top and it handles it fine and ya cant beat the price

Works well for my 6 inch bench grinder. Not as heavy duty as some stands but very adequate for my needs and an excellent value for the money. I am pleased with my purchase.

This is not the best stand. The bottom only has two bolt to hold it. They should have put in three.

I ordered the stand for [$]. It was so flimsy due to the thin wall and undersized steel tube that I had to order a piece of 3" OD x 2.760" ID x .120" wall DOM steel tube. The 3 ft piece of DOM cost $44.00 delivered. So for ~$80.00 delivered I now have a rock solid stand. its really good but kind of blows the deal.Would I recommend it. Yes only if you also find yourself a piece of 3" OD x 2.760" ID x .120" wall DOM steel tube. Otherwise fuggetaboutit.

The base socket is a female cone. Welding or epoxy is the only way that a cylindrical pipe would mate a conical hole, without wobbling. Adding a third screw helps, but there is still wobble. The basic design needs revision and more parts. Add an internal piece of tapped angle. See below.

I laboriously added a piece of angle inside the pipe. A tapped hole was made in each arm of the angle. An oversized hole was drilled in the base bottom center, through which a bolt can force that arm of the angle against the bottom of the tapered socket in the three-legged base. An unthreaded hole was drilled 120 deg from the two existing screw holes. Through that hole, a bolt pulls one threaded hole in the angle, forcing two edges of the angle against the inner tube wall, thus pulling the tube against the tapered socket for a line contact there.

Two bent fender washers were driven into the gaps 120 deg apart, opposite the forced line contact. I will probably add some epoxy filler into the gap, though the pedestal seems stable now.

Work height is too low. I am 5' 11".

The grinder stand with water trough is also unstable, but less so. It has three screws. The basic problem of a cylinder into a cone remains.
