This is first flex shaft I Have used and I really think it is a good tool. I read in the manual and the reviews about the vibration and l'll tell you as someone who has used hand grinders and other such tools in factories for over 30 years that I Didn't even notice any vibration in this tool! Mine didn't heat up like other reviews mentioned either but I lubed the hand grip like another reviewer mentioned. I have had no problem whatsoever with the foot control either. Overall, this tool has performed flawlessly.

I have had this tool for at least 6 or 7 years using it almost daily for extended periods of time. I am an artisian who works with wood, stone, metal,birch bark etc.,etc. It has never failed to fire right up with full power and just keep going and going. Often in very dirty conditions. For me it was a tremendous buy.

This thing works great. I like the fact that the foot pedal offers infinite control. It is like using a dremel tool, but it has alot more torque on very low speeds. I did notice that the hand tool used to get hot. That was until I thinned some Moly grease with gasoline and poured them in the handset. It soaked into the bearings. I let it sit in the sun until the gas evaporated. I lubed the cable and bearings in the motor as well. It is one of the best tools that I own. I bought a chuck and cable that accepts 1/4 tools. I use it for light cylinder porting, carving and tool sharpening.

I have only used the grinder about an hour. Motor produces lots of torque. The flex shaft and hand piece vibrated a lot like other reviews describe. However, I attached my Foredom 44T to the shaft and the vibration disappeared. Otherwise it appears okay for the price; we'll know more after carving a dozen wooden decoys. This tool would be better if it had a power switch on the motor rather than unplugging the tool from the outlet to make sure no electricity reaches the foot control. A hand piece that accepts 1/4 in. bits would be very good. Note, HF advertises on its website a 5-piece rotary rasp set along with other bits to buy for this tool. The 1/4 in. rasp set won't fit the 5/32 in. chuck in the hand piece.

How can I get any spare parts? No matter how good a product is you still must be able to get spare parts. I'm looking for the inner cable to the flex cable. Like in all carvers this is the first to break. From what replies I'm getting there is no spare parts avaiable anywhere.

I bought this grinder to use in my woodshop, I have several Dremels, but they do not have the torque this has. The foot pedal is VERY responsive, it moves the motor from barely a crawl to top speed with nearly no effort. The chuck works well, nice heavy handset, and the cords and shaft are plenty long enough. Before I even used it I took heed of a few of the reviews here and soaked some grease into the hand set and the motor bearings. I have had no trouble at all with over heating. Sure it could be built better, but at this price its a steal! Check out the price of a Foredom and you will really appreciate the deal on this unit!

I port many cylinders and own 5 units and have 5 new unused hand pieces. replace with fordom 44t with 1/8-1/4" colects. will work with other pro-hand peices.at this price it saves time having multiable units.foot petal will lose its variable controlle after a while Wish I could buy just internal trigger.

I use this to drill into copper,brass, nickle, and sterling....It works well, is powerful, and I do not have any issues with the handle getting hot. I own 2 of them and use them constantly.

I feel like this is a great deal. Other similar tools like Foredom or Wecheer cost 3-4 times as much. Yeah, they are a lot smoother and quieter. But this tool has a 3 jaw chuck that accepts a range of bits and it comes with foot pedal control. It has a universal shaft that will accept Foredom/Wecheer handpieces, if you want to use 1/4" bits or a recipricating carver. I have used this heavily for over 3 years and had no trouble. And if it ever fails, all the handpieces and burrs will work with the more expensive models. A good buy!
