First and foremost, PLEASE LOOK AT STOCK NUMBERS this is the updated version, NOT the older version (99681) I work for HFT therefore, you can imagine the amount of customers I deal with on a day to day basis and the products HFT sells. This allows me to see the good, the bad, and the ugly of every product. I would like to point out that yes the issues and or problems that other reviewers have experience is most likely to be true. HOWEVER, HFT has superseded the old problematic workbench (stock number 99681) with a newer version (Stock number 60723) The downside, HFT interchanges both numbers for stock their stores. My advice make sure you get STOCK #60723 whenever possible. Stock number #60723 has darker blue paint, ball bearing-tool chest drawer sliders (no more falling drawers), clear and informative instructions, and does not have ANY of the the problems stock #99681 had including the dreaded short change on hardware and bad instructions. I purchased this (#60723) workbench to supplement my current workbench setup, and all I can say is this workbench is fantastic, like others have stated follow the instructions and leave the nuts hand tightened until the final assembly and you have placed the workbench in the spot it will stay, then level it out best as you can and tighten all the nuts. Once you tighten everything the workbench is rock solid and perfect for almost anything you can toss at it. The peg board is sturdy and the top shelf is great for displaying stuff and items not often used. Overall the assembly was straight forward and relatively easy (honestly some Swedish company' s furniture to assemble) I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a great bench at a steal of a price

To start, the form for filling out a HF review is ridiculously long. Since you can't just select a star rating, I have no idea how many stars I'm giving it. I was shooting for either 3 or 4.I needed a hobby/light usage bench. My expectations for this one were fairly low but the price was great. Other than installing the lower shelf, I assembled it by myself in about 7 hr. Much of this time was spent in re-assembly, correcting problems, etc. I ended up with a nice looking, very solid (for light duty) bench. The GOOD - All the major parts were there and no significant damage. The fabricated parts had a beautiful (looks like powder-coat) finish. Parts were all numbered to correspond with the material list. Fasteners were bagged and labeled by size. Assembly instructions were reasonably good. All holes lined up with no problemThe BAD - There were not enough screws, nuts, and washers. Had to make a trip to get missing hardware. Mounting clips for the light were also missing. This made little difference since the light is too dim to be useful anyway. Worst problem with instructions is that they don't tell you very well which screws go where. Had to remove and replace several screws to finally get them right. The UGLY - The worst problem with the whole thing is the drawers. They look nice but won't be useful for much more than a couple of pounds. Worse yet was the drawer mounting. As per other reviewers, the drawers fell out. The opening for the drawers in my bench was about 1/8" too wide per side. I fixed this by elongating the 4 mounting holes in the left and right Drawer Mounts. This allowed the gap to be closed and the drawers to work perfectly. This did mess up the hole alignment for the top but was easily fixed by running a drill thru the holes.TIPS:1. Pay close attention to the L & R (left and right) and the F & B (front and back) on the part number labeling. Trust me, this will save you a lot of rework.2. Per the instructions, DO NOT tighten the screws until the top and the bottom shelf are in place. These pieces are tight fitting. They "square up" and stabilize the whole assembly. 3. Before final tightening make sure the bench is on as level a surface as possible. Use a bubble level and check the top of the bench. If necessary, shim under the legs. Use the level again to get the legs vertical before tightening screws. 4. When you tighten the screws, make sure your Phillips fits the screws properly. Hold the screw with the Phillips and tighten the nut with a 10mm socket and ratchet. A few of the nuts are hard to get to and require an open end wrench. Using these methods you can get the screws very tight and the bench will be rock solid.5. The bench will gain a great deal of strength with the additions of 4 fastener. Add a screw, washer, and nut to the center (both front and back) of the bench top. These screws attach the top to underlying beam (just like the existing screws on the ends). Also, do the same thing on the lower shelf. It will take a while to drill, countersink, and add fasteners but will add a lot of strength. Do I recommend this? Yes, but with some disclaimers. If you don't expect it to be heavy duty. If you're fairly handy at assembly and a few modifications. If you're long on patience and time. If all these are met, then go for it. Otherwise, better look elsewhere. I think though that most any workbench you have to assemble will have some of these problems. I'd recommend buying one already assembled. Most big-box stores will do this for an extra charge.

Came out nice in the end
from Land O Lakes, FL
Read the reviews & made sure I picked up #60723. All parts were there, and over 100 nut, bolt, washer sets. Lots of assembly, don't tighten until the end!! It will be rickety until you get peg board and shelves on. However, when you do go to tighten, many of the nuts are hidden, making it tough to accomplish. Also, a couple of the brackets really need two people to attach. I ended up using zip ties to hold one end up, while I was putting the bolts in the other side. Overall, I am pleased with how it turned out. Took a long time to put together though. I definitely would not have shipped, as the box really is not adequate to hold up during shipment.
Great Table for the Price

Set this little jewel up in my workshop, and love it. As always, I have never purchased something from HF, and not got my monies worth. All though it is a little hard to assemble, it is worth it. Peg board, drawers, and table top, all compliment each other. Light don't put out much light, but does help.

This Bench Works great for me I'm a computer builder, repairer so it works great for me. I have plenty of room for a Desktop Mouse & Keyboard And then some. Every thing I use is right on the bench and that's what I need.It took a couple of hrs to put together, but it wasn't to bad directions were good I followed them with no issues and got it together, everything was there nothing missing. So it was a great purchase for me and my home based business. I use it all day long no issues.Drawers could be a little better, feel kinda flimsy when I open them but work, just don't pull them too far out or they will come right out in your hand. other than that the bench has a solid feel to it for what you pay. I looked at another brand from another tool company they wanted over $700, too much for that bench.I'm gonna get another 1 of these benches great price and getting so busy I need a 2nd bench so I can work on 2 pc's at once with out mixing up parts.I love the light it could have been bigger but does light up my work just fine. but I think eventually gonna put a bigger light and replace the smaller 1 With a 25" floresent or Led.I mounted a circuit protector with power strip to the pegboard for enough outlets for what I need.I love the shelf above the light, my modem and router and external HDD'S sit nicely on top.Wish I could give a better review with it being used for heavy things sitting on it but I can't sorry. If you want to see the bench in use goto https://www.facebook.com/Highperformancepc there you can see videos of the bench in use.
More of the same problems

I can't believe that HF has not addressed the problems that everyone lists. I too came up way short on screws, nuts, and washers. Seventy eight M6 x 10 screws fasten the bulk of the assembly together. In the sealed bag, I received 60. M6's this short are not that easy to come by locally.Packaging is terrible. The weight is not listed, but as you can imagine... It's VERY heavy. Loose pieces of metal sliding around a single ply box that is actually much larger than it needs to be. The box was mangled from the metal punching holes through it. UPS had practically taped over the whole box trying to make repairs. The delivery guy wasn't happy. It's a big floppy, unwieldy box. Should be packed tighter in a smaller heavier box.IF everything was there and the packaging was better, I think that this would be an excellent product for the money. The drawers are flimsy. Having read all the reviews, I was prepared for problems. I assembled the frame loosely. There's enough play in the fastener holes that you can actually adjust everything a fair amount. One reviewer mentioned elongating holes. I found that pushing the legs all the way in and pushing the side drawer guides as far in towards the center solved the problem for me.My advice would be to buy it in the store if possible rather than have it delivered. That way you can check the condition of the package before you get it. Perhaps you will not have to deal with straightening bent metal as I did. The job does indeed take about 4 hours. But add to that trips to the hardware store to purchase what's missing.

Don't try and get parts thru HF
don't try and get parts thru the HF help linethey are useless. be sure to check and see if the light assembly clips are included. some of the parts are mislabeled. I tried to get the clips after I spent 3 hrs putting it together. after 2 long calls they came back and said take it apart and bring it back to the store. They wouldn't let me speak to a supervisor and belittled me for getting upset on the phone. I finally just laughed at them and hung up. I used tie wraps to attach the light. They worked fine.I'll think twice about buying something that needs assembly from HF again.

Get what you pay for

I use this bench a good amount, I have used it for many projects. I have had winsor heads on the workbench along with other heavy objects it deffinatly can hold alot. Right now it has my Mig Welder, Airbrush setup with Pancake compressor, Variaty of tools hanging on the peg board and various engine parts. I still have a good amount of room for small projects. I would like to upgrade the wood top workbench to a 1/2 inch steel plate, but I might aswell just build a new one because that would be to much weight I would think. Over all with ease of assembly with a few tweeks here and there, all parts came in package with a few extra bolts (maybe like 2 bolts). Depending on what kind of hobbies you do you might like this bench alot. I just wish they made it heavier, I dont have any uneven balance issues.Welding on this bench is ok it can hold your elder perfectly on the bottom shelf with good amount of head space can tuck the leads next to it (I use the magnetic hooks) But you need to find the right stool to work with sitting at the bench, I stand 6'1" and my rolling stool at bottom height I feel like a 2nd grader at a bug desk.

Decent -- But An Exercise In Frustration
By Tall Tee

First off--I normally like Harbor Freight products. But this bench was a complete pain to assemble.I am a handywoman with 12 years experience, so I know that when assembling something made of metal one can't fully tighten the parts until everything is together and level--but this product still took the cake. First off, mine was missing some of the screws. Speaking of which--the screws were not sorted and on top of that, the nuts were attached. You will get a headache sitting there and disassembling about a hundred screws so if you have kids, ask them to do it foe you. My pegboard was also terrible misaligned. It is so thin that it shouldn't be loaded down anyway, but I would at least have liked to hang a couple of screwdriver racks. The drawers work fine is you line them up properly on a level surface and assemble them; however, the bottoms are really, really bad. Really thin and definitely can't hold much.I leveled each and every surface on the bench and still had problems with a few holes not lining up. I actually had t
