I like this meter. It's not perfect, but it ain't no Fluke either. Maybe the folks that don't get the proper RPM reading need to recheck their math. Mine is within 5 RPM's. And yes, the therm is off by about -6°. So add that to your final reading and all is good. Consistency is key here, and my meter is consistent. Add or subtract your margin of error and it's well worth the money.

Manual indicates tach works only on 3,4,5,6,8 cylinder engines, was your outboard a 1 or 2 cylinder? Perhaps the 1-Star rating indicates the operator's competence and not the multimeter's ability to perform.

This Tool works great. I have used for over 3 years and is still accurate. All the features work on my DMM.

I bought this meter because of the price and it seemed to set the dwell and idle correctly.

I wish the heat probe was more precise. I put it in boiling water it only was 202 degrees. The tach seems to read slighty low.

I'm going to keep this meter for the price . Other more expensive meters I have could not test the oxygen sensor voltage. Clamping the tach jaw within the 10 cm of spark plug, per instructions on 6 cylinder ,The tach readings went all over the place. When jaw moved up the ignition wire towards distributer, reading is steady but 300 rpm to high. The temp probe was submerged in ice water and reads 27*, in boiling water 208*, and under my tongue 92*. I don't feel hypothermic.





Jackson questioning Competence???. There are 3 and 4 cylinder outboard motors.

Seems like a decent meter. Especially for the price. However I too didn't get reliable results from the tach when reading my 4 cyl 4-stroke outboard engine.

Bought for rpm and temp functions. Worthless disappointing junk and want a 20% restocking fee for something that doesn't even come close to working.
