I run a number of the LED light kits. All work great. On boat and utility trailers. As far as submersible, maybe I am older than most on this post, but in the old days before submersible trailer lights were available, we always just disconnected the trailer wire connector from the vehicle at the boat ramp right before the launch. No electricity = no short(blown bulbs). Never had any problems other than for the times that I forgot to disconnect the connector. After you load the boat back onto the trailer, plug the lights back in.

I still do this with these lights and never had a problem to date. I have done this mostly with fresh water boats, a few times in salt water, but I imagine this method would not work well repeatedly in salt water.

I purchased these lights to replace an original set of incadescent lights, and they are a remarkable improvement.

I struggled with the grounding with this LED set until I thought about it. The ground wire that was attached to the 4-pin harness did not ground the lights as it had on the previous incadecent light set. Therefore, I used the ground that was attached to each light and they worked perfectly.

This was the first set of lights that I had seen with individual grounds AND a harness ground. As I looked around at other (far more expensive but not the quality of HF!) LED light sets, I noticed that they ALL had this third wire for grounding...so, it was no big deal.

I also added the marker lights to my trailer and they all work great.

I took the advice of another responder to this post and siliconed all seams and waterproofed all connections.

I look forward to enjoying these lights for years to come and I appreciate HF making them so affordable. Great place to shop and great people to be around!

lights. LED's are the way to go for any trailer, much safer on the road. HF has the best price for these lights and with a 20% off deal you can't go wrong.

I've had these light for over 3 years and they are still nice and bright. you do need to splice into the ground and add the addtional ground to the trailer. just make sure you scrape the paint off the trail and get to bare metal. It's an even better deal when you use the 20% off ticket!!!

I installed this set on a friend‰Ûªs small utility trailer about a year ago. They are still working, no problems





At first, I was a little skeptical about the brightness of LED lamps in general, but he was set on using LED lights on his trailer. Let me tell you, I think these are very bright! Brighter than the incandescent lamps we replaced.





We installed this set in an afternoon. The wiring gauge is very small, probably 22 or 20 AWG. But that doesn‰Ûªt really matter, it‰Ûªs only LEDs‰Û_ They only draw a few milliamps.








Do yourself a favor: Use some split loom tubing, take your time, and do a good install and this set will last forever.

installed the tail/blinkers for now. The side markers won't fit without a little more work to make them fit the stock tabs. they are bright and seem to be well constructed. Installed these when rewiring my utility trailer. (got tired of grounding issues and side markers that are all wired in series..one goes out, they all are out!)

as with ANY trailer lights--- you must run ground wire--- good idea anyway on newer tow vehicles--- saves alot of trailer light problems---- NEVER use trailer ball as a ground-- unless you like paying for transmission repairs----- have personally seen many tranny tail shaft bushings with electrolisis damage (pitting from electrical arcing)

I happy with the light kit. After reading the reviews, I ran separate ground wires to each light. My wiring goes through tubes so it's easier to pull all the wires together. I also soldered and used shrink tubes on the connections. The tail lights were sealed up good, but I needed to add some silicone to the side markers.

Put this on my Harbor Freight 8x4 trailer to replace the regular light kit.





After installation, it wouldn't work. Was getting 12 VDC to the lights, but nothing lit up. Ran a separate wire from my ground back to the lights, which solved the issue. No matter how much paint/metal I ground off, I could not get a sufficient ground to go from the front of the trailer to the lights. Very strange.





Great lights, but just know that you might have to run a separate ground along with the wiring harness.
