Used this together with a HF digital dial indicator. Worked well and was easily adjusted into position. Magnet is surpiseingly strong. Adjustment knobs are a little fragile. There may be a tendancy to overtighten the knobs to maintain your position setup....use the minimum amont of tension necessary. If you don't over tighten all should be good.

Overall it works well as intended. My main complaint is the flimsy plastic tightening handles. One of mine cracked during the first use of the base. Fortunately, a 9mm socket fits in place of the handle.

Very nice holder for my dial meter.
The arms bolts into the magnetic base. It was very helpful for me that the bolt thread was 8mm and it fit right into one of my engine case bots place, allowing firm positioning.

I would request to make the knobs removable after it tightened so it will allow more degrees of freedom. Most limitation I've encounter were when the knobs interfered with each other

I bought this along with the digital indicator for a rifle project I'm working on. Everything worked great and I was impressed with the quality vs. price. This will be on my bench and used for all my rifle projects.

I do like this tool alot, but I do wish the magnet was stronger. If you have a relatively flat surface it will work fine.

Being able to turn the magnetic base on and off makes it very easy to move. The 45 puound magnetic pull holds the base in place very well. I added s simple bracket and attached a heavy duty spring clamp to hold metal up when I can not lay it flat for welding.

Magnet clamp systems works good, fine adjustment also nice touch other adjustments easy to make and clamping strenght is fine. Others have noted quality of handles or knobs well injection molded plastic handles are fine, metal parts are stamped rather than forged I will be buying another soon to go with the dial indicator. All In All I am Very Happy With The Quailty Of Tools I Have Purchased From H.F. and in my opinion, and my opinion only some people exspect way to much from H.F. and they should perhaps just buy other brand tools......

I use this to set the backlash on differentials. The plastic knobs are cheap feeling, like if you go too tight they'll break off. The last screw is metal, but it's hard to get tight enough.

One of the clamps used to secure the dial indicator snapped on the first use with minimal tightening. The metal used on the clamps is super cheap, fragile and prone to breakage. The magnetic base also does not clamp down as strongly and reliably as it should. I need a magnetic base that functions correctly with my precision measuring devices - this ain't it. Worst part is that I didn't use this tool until after the 30 day warranty ran out, so now I'm SOL. My advice is to steer clear of this "tool." (HF editor will not allow the word I really want to use)
