I use this for spraying cabinetry, trim, and doors. I've read how hard it is to set up. I have several very expensive name brand guns, they give a nice finish, but this one will match their finish at a sixth of the price. I usually pick this gun up before picking up one of the more expensive guns. I love the fact that I can spray at any angle. Those who've had problems with this gun should try to understand HVLP before writing a review saying the gun was faulty, most of the problems I've read are operator error(sorry). The one place I would fault this system out is the hoses should be made more available because they do wear out, but I can buy a new unit for almost the price of new hoses so who's complaining.

I have used the spray gun on about 20 security fence jobs. The fencing I do is steel using 1/2 to 3/4 spindles. Works great. Able to fine tune the gun so there isn't much over spray. Use Rustoleum (sp) primer and color. No issues. Cleaning is a pain but when I found the liners, clean up is easy. Hoses began cracking after the third or forth job. They haven't burst (yet) but will order replacement hoses soon. I have had this for ~8 years

I build and sell trailer-mounted smokers. I've painted the last 17 with this unit from HF. I'm on my second one (I wore the hoses off the first one) and I've had no problems with them. I shoot Rustoleum high temp grill paint with very little thinning and get good coverage. I can shoot a couple feet away to get some hard-to-reach area or spread the fan out and get good coverage on large, flat areas. I've shot some Martin Senour primer and urethane paint with my current rig, too, and it worked fine for that. The dribbling of paint is usually because the needle needs lubricant and isn't resetting all the way to closed when the trigger is released. I shoot a little WD on it when I assemble it to avoid this problem. Anyway, I love these things; I'm about to order three more (sale) just to have on hand for the next hose failure.

I have a number of spray guns, but I bought this to paint some industrial machinery with industrial oil base enamel. It works great for that since it has a pressure feed. Most conventional spray guns do not work well with industrial enamels like rustoleum. This gun does work well. I also used this setup to spray some oil base house primer. Also worked well and much easier to cheap up than a bigger airless sprayer setup. Don't use this gun for painting a car. Use a gravity feed gun for that. The purple Harbor Freight gun is designed for that and works well with urethane car paints.

I am a professional gel-coater, and I used to buy these things when ever I would go out of state to paint, It was new so I would have know problems on the plane. I did find that the paint guns didn't last to long for industrial use. But the pressure pot was what I was really after. For the price, it made it's worth wild. I would just take a good binks or dilvilvus gun and use it with these pressure pots and they worked just fine.

I have one of these for home use. After reading BobR review I looked at the gun and found on mine, when the trigger is pulled the needle is pulled back (good) and to the right (bad). This will give an uneven paint release from nozzle, giving a bad spray pattern. I did check the needle and it IS NOT bent. If you can get one that the needle goes back only it just might be good for high quality paint jobs. Maybe that is way the description says ‰ÛÏIdeal for primer application‰Û� and nothing on quality paints.


With the large fan and a 2.5 gl pot it could have been great for large high quality paint jobs.

I have cleaned the air holes in the air cap and worked with it. Something to thank about with using this setup is that you will be using a HVLP gun with a rig that was designed for a high air pressure gun (Ref Item 93312). The manual states that HVLP works at 10 psi at the cap, so the pressure is not there to atomize large amount of paint are even large amount water. This will also give an uneven spray. Try keeping the paint pressure and volume down. I have found that turning the paint control valve down at the tank helps. By keeping this in mine I have been able to get a full, even, fine spray out of it. You may even find that the working settings are way off. I have item 93312 and this one (93305), the tank and hoses are the same. Getting it tuned in has taken some time. Just a little change to ether supply pressure, tank pressure, paint pressure are volume, gun air pressure will make very big changes with the results. Item 93312 was much, much, much easier to get tuned in.

I bought this to paint the siding on my house. Even with a watered down water based paint it would still not work. There are pressure leaks from the lid of the unit that doesn't allow it to work properly. I exchanged one because I thought I had a bad unit but the other one was no better. Then when cleaning the unit with water when I tried to open it back up the lid is stuck, from only hand tightening the unit earlier. There is a horrable design with this units lid.

I USED THIS SETUP TO TRY TO SPRAY AN ALMOST WATER CONSISTENCY PAVER SEALER. TRIED EVERY SUPPLY PRESSURE UNDER THE SUN, AND ADJUSTED THE NUMEROUS GUN CONTROLS (FAN SHAPE, AIR SUPPLY, FLUID SUPPLY, ETC). NEVER COULD GET A CONSISTENT FLOW AND PATTERN, AND ALWAYS HAD A CONCENTRATED CENTER SPRAY, WITH CONTINUOUS LEAKAGE FROM THE TIP WHEN TRIGGER WAS RELEASED. SUGGEST THE SIMILAR MODEL WHICH IS NOT HVLP. IT WORKS REAL WELL.
