Works on doors very well, but this is not made for inset windows, so I just put the bar at the bottom of the window seal by cutting a little of the tape from each of the alarms and put it on the side of the bar than place the alarm above it on the window, so when the window is open the bar will stay at the bottom and set the alarm off when they are pull away from each other.Would be better if the tape was not already placed on the bars so you can put it where you fill best for your own situation.

I purchased this some time ago on a whim, because it was cheap, but hadn't installed it because I figured it wasn't worth the effort. I figured the range wasn't very good, and that it would be either prone to false alarms or not going off at all. I was wrong! This is an excellent value. You get six sensors, and they can be set so that the sensor itself doesn't alarm, but that the control box does, or the sensor can alarm too. Tells you if a door or window the moment it happens, and the great thing is that it tells you WHICH one was opened, so you know where to investigate. Works great for knowing exactly when teenagers get home, or just peace of mind if you are a sound sleeper. Had to put some small 1/2" pieces of wood under the magnet on some doors to make the height match, used double sided tape, and worked great.

This is a great way to setup an alarm system with out haveing to string cables.


It works for an alarm or just a chime with the flip of a switch on the main controller.


You cant beat the price for what you get , it comes with six wireless sensors that are digitaly coded witch make it really secure.


Also if you need more than six sensors you can take to or more sets and set them to the same code.

Overall this is a great product. Had no probelms with installation and all the pieces worked the first time.
The system is a little clunky to disarm with the remote during an alarm, but repeated pushes of the off button seems to work.

Pros:

- It's cheap and it works.

- The sensors fasten with 3M adhesives that work great.

Cons:

- There are supposed to be two settings, "alarm" and "chime". Chime sounds like an alarm, and the alarm is quiet.

- Thus far, it seems the key fobs work at arming and disarming the system, but *they don't seem to turn off a triggered alarm*. You have to do that at the unit.

Notes:

- You have to make sure the sensors fit where you want to use them, or you won't have a sensor there.

- Like Devilsclaw wrote, height matching can be an issue.

- You need a small Phillips screwdriver for batteries, which HF sells.

I picked up this package a couple weeks ago, here's what I've found.

Stuff to know:
The base station runs on AA batteries.
The individual sensor/alrms run on three button cell batteries.
Each individual sensor/alarm has three possible settings: Off, RF (meaning sends alarm signal to base station only, and alarm on the individual sensor will not sound), and RF/Alarm (meaning the sensor will sound an alarm and the base station will sound an alarm).
The sensor units are 1 7/8 inches wide. The magnetic strip is 1/2 inch wide. You may wish to check the doors/windows you plan to alarm to see if this will work for your needs. I have a couple old windows with only a half inch of aluminum framing, and these alarms don't work so well for them. I placed a piece of 2x4 on the window sill to hold the magnetic strip on the right edge and the sensor unit on the wall left of the window. The alarm won't sound if the window is opened, but for anyone to climb through, they would have to "knock over" or move the 2x4 with the magnetic strip, causing the alarm to sound.

The good stuff:
All units work, none are defective.
None of my doors or windows appear to be out of range of the base unit.
The On/Off remotes (comes with 2) work well.
The units are loud and startling.
The base station will tell you which alarm has been tripped, numbers 1-6, and has little label space next to each on the base station for labeling where each numbered alarm is. (So for my alarm sensor #1, I labeled it "basement window").

The Bad:
When the sensor unit is tripped, the individual sensors/alarms will only sound an alarm for 5 SECONDS, then turn off. Example, if I open a door with the sensor, it will alarm for 5 seconds, regardless of wether or not the door remains open or is closed. This is not a very effective alarm sounding time.
When the individual sensor unit is tripped, and the base station is armed, the base station will only sound for 15 SECONDS, then turn off, regardless of whether the door/window has been shut or remains open.
The sensor units are not very convenient for doors. If placed on doors, it is best to use the RF setting, otherwise whenever you exit a door, the alarm on the sensor will sound, even if your base station is disarmed. If set to RF/Alarm, the only way to exit your doors is to turn off the sensor by hand, open the door, then turn the sensor back on before closing your door. Otherwise you will trigger the alarm. I keep my door sensors set to RF only, and just remember to use the remote to arm the base station after leaving the house.

I would be much more pleased if the alarm were to sound for a couple minutes rather than a few seconds in order to be a better burglary deterrant. A savy burglar would apprciate an alarm that turns off after 5/15 seconds.

This unit is very affordable, and perhaps a good deterant if a would be burglar is startled enough to run away at first alarm sounding, though could venture back if notices the alarm turns off after a few seconds. Most criminals are cowards and opportunists, and will scamper off at the first alarm.

I could put a sensor on my garage door or shed door, though it would have to be set to RF only, because everytime you get in your shed or back your car out of the garage, the alarm on the sensor would be ringing. It would not be a good burglary deterrent on these outside structures, since the base station is inside the house where the burglar wouldn't hear it. Would only be good for when you are "at home", and can hear the base station sound an alarm.

This unit may not be the most effective when away from the house, due to the short alarm sounding times, but would be a great "early warning" system for when you are at home.
For complete "set and forget" ease of use, these alarms would be most effective placed on windows that are seldom opened.
