It always catches my eye in the store, so I bought it. It is cool and functional, but some screws were loose and the holes drilled were too large. It is high quality metal but the poorly drilled holes are unfortunate.

Nicely finished sundial. Made in In Dia, but better than other similar ones that I own and that cost me twice as much. Smooth operation and reliable compass. It makes a great gift: I only wish it came in a wooden box rather than in a flimsy cardboard one.

It's a cool looking little thing, all covered with important looking calibrations and adjustments, but... The compass needle is barely magnetized, it swings for about a minute before vaguely pointing SOUTH (the mark is on the wrong end of the needle). It's got leveling screws, but no level and no real reason to need leveling. The sundial works, just point the gnomon North (using a working compass) and read the time off the scale BUT, the scale is very hard to read -- shadows are very hard to see on shiny brass (don't forget to compensate for daylight savings time in the summer). The latitude scale depends upon using the inch long shiny gnomon as a sight -- not likely to give an accuracy better than 40 degrees or so. Bottom line, put it on your desk or mantle and tell your guests it's a complex backup navigation device from NASA that only works in space.

This is a great looking unit. It is mounted on a wrist band for a steampunk event. However, to actually use it, a one page instruction would be VERY helpful.

Basically my review is the same as the first. I love the item, the quality for price is outstanding, but it is sorely in need of some simple operating instructions. You could really help your customers out with this.

it would be a great classroom tool and the instructions could serve as a text book - oh wait..
